About 23 years ago we started playing "Chicago" bridge in the summer months with local friends and members of the Baltimore Sailing Club and this proved very popular. It was therefore decided to continue playing beyond the 10 weeks of the summer and we steadily grew from 3 (sometimes 4) tables to our current 5 or 6 and sometimes even 7 tables. Years ago there was a regular bridge group in the village and I'm trying to find out who/what/when/where...... We now play Duplicate or Contract Bridge.
We currently have a good mix of player abilities and ages. Some travel from nearby towns and villages to join us on this great social evening with wonderful tea/coffee and cake half-way through the evening.
Membership fee and insurance is by way of affiliation to the CBAI (Contract Bridge Association of Ireland)through the Skibbereen Bridge Club and costs €15 per annum. Table money €7 including tea/coffee and cake and our regular play is Monday evenings at 8pm - playing approx 15 boards (in the Baltimore Community Centre / Fr. Cashman Hall).
We welcome all bridge players to join us, whether you live locally or are on holiday in the area and come as pairs or individuals and we will "team" you up with another player AND you don't have to book in advance, just turn up......
For beginners & improvers - these are normally arranged during the winter months and would need a minimum of three people (ideally four) per session.
We use the SAYC = standard American Yellow Card system of 5 card major and strong no-trump.

Throughout the year from the 1st Monday in September through to the 3rd Monday in June we play in the hall for the "winter bridge" season..
Players are very welcome to play on Thursday evenings in Skibbereen - Abbeystrewery Hall either as a member or guest.
